Who this is for

We migrate three kinds of businesses. If you recognise yourself in one of them, this page is for you.

Mauritian business owner surrounded by fragile Excel spreadsheets before moving to QuickBooks

1. You run your accounts in Excel

Your spreadsheets have grown into something fragile: formulas break, VAT returns take days, and nobody can produce a balance sheet on demand.

  • Debtors and creditors tracked in separate files
  • VAT worked out by hand each quarter
  • No audit trail — one wrong cell changes last year's figures

→ We move your customers, suppliers, items, opening balances and open invoices into QuickBooks and set up VAT so your MRA return is produced in minutes.

Switching from Sage or Pastel accounting software to QuickBooks Online

2. You use Sage, Pastel or another accounting package

Your software works, but it is expensive to renew, hard to access remotely, or your accountant has asked you to switch.

  • Annual licence costs keep rising
  • Only one PC can open the books
  • Reports need re-formatting in Excel every month

→ We export your lists and balances, rebuild your chart of accounts in QuickBooks, bring across history for the periods you choose, and reconcile the result to your old system — line by line.

Moving a QuickBooks Desktop UK company file to QuickBooks Online in the cloud

3. You are on QuickBooks Desktop UK

Intuit has withdrawn QuickBooks Desktop from the UK market, so the UK edition many Mauritian businesses bought no longer receives updates, security patches or support. Your file still opens — but every month you stay on it, the risk grows.

  • Years of transactions and custom reports you cannot afford to lose
  • No more payroll, VAT or security updates
  • Your accountant wants cloud access and bank feeds

→ We audit your Desktop UK company file, choose the right QuickBooks Online plan (Essentials, Plus or Advanced), migrate the data, rebuild the reports you actually use, and train your team on the new interface. If your business genuinely needs a desktop product, QuickBooks Desktop (US edition) is available on request — ask us during the assessment; for most Mauritian businesses QuickBooks Online is the better fit.

What a Quick Focus migration includes

Every migration — whatever system you are leaving — follows the same 5 steps. Nothing is skipped, and you sign off each step. Overall, plan for 3–4 weeks from the day you hand over your data.

01

Free full assessment

Start with the free assessment tool on this page or send us your file. We look at your current data, count customers, suppliers, items, bank accounts and open transactions, and agree what history to bring across: opening balances only, the current financial year, or full history. You get a written quote and a timeline before any work starts.

02

Clean and prepare your data (7–10 days after you submit your information)

Duplicates removed, inactive accounts archived, names and TANs/BRNs standardised, VAT codes mapped to Mauritius VAT at 15% and zero-rated/exempt categories. You approve the cleaned lists before anything is imported. This step takes the longest because it is where most migrations go wrong when rushed.

03

Build and import (about one week)

We create your company file with a Mauritius-ready chart of accounts, VAT settings, invoice templates with your logo and BRN/VAT number, users and permissions. Then we import lists, opening balances and the agreed transaction history.

04

Reconcile and validate (1–2 days)

Trial balance, debtors ageing, creditors ageing, bank balances and VAT control account are matched to your old system to the rupee. You receive a reconciliation report. If anything does not balance, we fix it before go-live — that is our zero-data-loss guarantee.

05

Train your team and go live (1–2 days + 30–60 days support)

Hands-on, HRDC-approved training on your own data, not a demo file. Then WhatsApp and phone support from the same specialist who did the migration for 30–60 days (agreed in your quote), covering your first month-end and first VAT return (read our full migration guide).

Free migration assessment — get your report by email

Answer 10 quick questions about your current setup. You get a personalised report by email within minutes: your migration complexity, a realistic timeline, which QuickBooks edition fits, what history we recommend bringing across, and a checklist of what to prepare. No obligation — and it is how we start every quote.

How we price a migration

No two migrations are the same, so we do not sell fixed packages. Your quote is fixed in writing after the free assessment, and it does not change unless you change the scope. Six things decide the price:

  • How much history you bring across. Opening balances only is the quickest; current financial year is the most common; multi-year history takes the longest.
  • The size of your lists. Hundreds versus thousands of customers, suppliers, items and accounts.
  • Inventory. Stock items with quantities and costs need valuation and checking; service businesses skip this.
  • Bank accounts and currencies. Each account is reconciled to statement; foreign-currency accounts add revaluation work.
  • Where the data comes from. A clean Sage or Pastel export is faster than a set of inter-linked Excel files.
  • Users and training. How many people need training, on-site or remote, and how much of it the HRDC grant will refund.

As a guide, most QuickBooks setup and migration projects in Mauritius fall between Rs 40,000 and Rs 70,000; larger businesses with multi-year history, inventory or several entities cost more. Your assessment report will tell you which end of the range you are likely to be at.

QuickBooks Online subscriptions and licences are quoted separately in MUR — see Pricing. Training components can be reclaimed through the HRDC grant scheme; we complete the paperwork with you (training pricing & HRDC).

Frequently asked questions

How long does a QuickBooks migration take in Mauritius?+

Plan for 3–4 weeks from the day you hand over your data. The free assessment is done first; cleaning and preparing your data then takes 7–10 days after you submit your information; building the company file and importing takes about one week; reconciliation takes 1–2 days; training and go-live 1–2 days. Opening-balances-only setups are quicker; multi-year history takes longer. The timeline is confirmed in writing in your quote.

Can you migrate my data from Excel to QuickBooks?+

Yes. We import customers, suppliers, items, opening balances and open invoices and bills from Excel, and set up VAT so your MRA return is produced from QuickBooks. We clean the spreadsheets first and you approve the lists before import.

Can you migrate from Sage or Pastel to QuickBooks?+

Yes. We export lists and balances from Sage 50, Sage Pastel and similar packages, rebuild your chart of accounts in QuickBooks, import the agreed history and reconcile the result to your old system line by line.

Is QuickBooks Desktop discontinued in Mauritius?+

The UK edition is. Intuit has withdrawn QuickBooks Desktop from the UK market, so Desktop UK files used in Mauritius no longer receive updates, security patches or support, although they still open. The US edition of QuickBooks Desktop has not been discontinued and Quick Focus can supply it on request, but demand in Mauritius is now very low because QuickBooks Online does what most businesses need.

Will I lose any data when moving from QuickBooks Desktop UK to QuickBooks Online?+

Lists, opening balances and transaction history are migrated. Some items — memorised reports, certain custom templates and some inventory assemblies — do not convert automatically; we rebuild the ones you use and tell you up front which they are. Every migration ends with a reconciliation report matching your Desktop file.

How much does QuickBooks setup and migration cost in Mauritius?+

There is no standard package because no two migrations are the same. As a guide, most projects fall between Rs 40,000 and Rs 70,000; larger businesses with multi-year history, inventory or several entities cost more. Your quote is fixed in writing after a free assessment and does not change unless the scope changes. QuickBooks Online subscriptions are quoted separately in MUR.

What is the free migration assessment and what do I get?+

It is a 10-question online form on this page about your customers, suppliers, chart of accounts, inventory, bank accounts, current system and history. Within minutes you receive an emailed report with your migration complexity, a realistic timeline, the QuickBooks edition we would recommend, the history we suggest bringing across and a checklist of what to prepare. It is free and carries no obligation.

Is QuickBooks migration training HRDC-refundable?+

The training component is. Our QuickBooks courses are HRDC-approved, so your business can claim a refund on training costs through the Human Resource Development Council. We complete the HRDC paperwork with you.

Should I migrate at financial year-end or mid-year?+

Year-end is cleanest: you start QuickBooks with closing balances and no mid-year reconciliation. Mid-year is fine if you bring across the current year's transactions. We advise on the best cut-over date during the free assessment, and we recommend starting 4–6 weeks before your chosen cut-over date.

Do you set up QuickBooks for Mauritius VAT?+

Yes. Every file gets VAT at 15%, zero-rated and exempt codes mapped to the MRA VAT return, and your BRN and VAT number on invoices. We supervise your first VAT return after go-live.

What support do I get after the migration?+

WhatsApp and phone support from the same specialist who did the migration for 30–60 days, as agreed in your quote, including your first month-end and first VAT return. Ongoing support plans are available afterwards.

Ready to stop fighting your spreadsheets?
